Music echoed through the halls of SJHS last Friday as the Coverband Club hosted its first student performance showcase of the semester. What started as a small group of students who simply loved playing music together has grown into one of the school’s most energetic clubs.
Throughout the afternoon, club members performed covers of popular songs from different genres—rock, pop, and even a bit of indie. Students gathered in the auditorium, clapping along as guitars rang out and drums kept the rhythm. For many performers, it was their first time playing in front of a live audience, making the moment both exciting and a little nerve-racking.
“Our goal is to create a place where anyone who loves music can play,” said one club member. “You don’t have to be a professional musician—just bring your passion.”
The club meets weekly to practice, experiment with different arrangements, and help members improve their skills. From vocalists to guitarists, bassists, keyboard players, and drummers, everyone works together to recreate songs while adding their own creative style.
Students who attended the showcase said the performance brought great energy to campus. Many are already looking forward to the club’s next event, where members plan to debut new songs and possibly collaborate with other student groups.
If you’re interested in music, performing, or simply want to try something new, the SJHS Coverband Club welcomes new members. After all, sometimes all it takes to start a band is a few friends, a love of music, and the courage to play the first note.
